CHRONO CROSS
CHRONO CROSS

It has been almost twenty years since Chrono Cross was released on November 18, 1999. Since this is the year of Chrono Cross, I wanted to celebrate it with everyone by doing a live concert tour. The theme for the music in Chrono Cross was “radical traditional”. For Chrono Cross, I tried the best I could to create a new kind of video game music. All kinds of sounds were mixed together, from Balkan music to Celtic, Nordic, African and so on, making the music stateless and unique. This time, I’ll personally arrange all of the pieces played during the tour. I’m aiming for the type of setting where we can all laugh and dance together. It won’t be a concert where the audience sits and listens, but rather a standing concert where all the fans and musicians can share their energy and enjoy the music together. The live concert tour will happen in three places: Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya. I hope everyone can lose themselves in the music. Together with Serge, Schala ”Kid” Zeal and everyone, let’s set out in search of the “Frozen Flame”.

Musicians' Comments

Frolicking around elated and full of glee, here and now, I vow to be careful not to break my violin this time.

For me, Chrono Cross was what led me to love performing video game music. It's really one of a kind. Chrono Cross... The enormously popular title not only Japan, but throughout the world. I'm truly looking forward to having the privilege to commemorate CHRONO CROSS' 20th anniversary, as well as being able to share such a special moment with Mitsuda and everyone in the band, and also everyone at the venue!!

Noriko Terada (Percussion)

Mitsuda's music is what led me to start playing the Uilleann Pipes. Following the Xenogears 20th Anniversary Concert, being able to join the Chrono Cross 20th Anniversary Live Concert Tour as well is deeply moving and truly an honor. I'll work hard so that, together with everyone, we can experience a moment that is unforgettable.

Chrono Cross! On the day it was released, I ran to the store to buy the soundtrack (it was that kind of era...). There are always all kinds of miracles at Mitsuda's concerts... Of course musically, but also in the meeting and farewell of people who cannot be replaced... when describing those thoughts and feelings, words alone don't suffice. I'm filled with a precious feeling and fresh excitement. Together with Mitsuda and the wonderful band members, as well as the staff and all who will come to listen, I'm looking forward to commemorating Chrono Cross' 20th Anniversary! I'll do my best!
